Boat-Safety-Scheme Extinguishers

Firstly there are many types of Extinguishers that can be used on boats. Additionally people prefer Powder Fire Extinguishers because they take up less room. Also they cover (A) rated (B) rated and (C) rated fires. However extinguisher size does matter as this has a direct relation to the fire rating of the Extinguishers.

Secondly, there is a minimum fire rating per boat so you need to make sure that your combined fire rating is sufficient.

Thirdly to do this we need to run some calculations and work out if your individual fire extinguishers add up. Finally they must be rated high enough to cover the (A) rating solids and (B) rating liquids.

Additionally as you can see below the small individual fire extinguishers each have a rating of 5a/34b so combined would not be sufficient to cover the minimum overall required rating.
