Do You Need To Replace Your Fire Extinguishers?
Your local Fire and Rescue Authority can visit your premises and can prohibit you from entering your business if they deem you to be a fire risk. We recommend all fire extinguishers are checked for damage every month by a responsible person and should be serviced every year. - Then we would charge £7.50 per additional Extinguisher
- It is £3 per extra fire blanket
- We charge £45 for new field refillable water units
- Finally we will return every year for your service and maintenance

Which Extinguishers Do I Need?
If you are unsure what type of Fire Extinguishers you need we will work out how many extinguishers you need and the type of extinguishers you require. Each client will have specific fire risks so we evaluate those for you!
Each customer will also have differing floor space, we will evaluate that for you. Once we have evaluated the risk and size of the floor space we will order the required fire extinguishers and install them safely.
FES provide PowerX Fire extinguishers for Flammable Solids such as paper and office materials.
Secondly we also provide extinguishers for flammable liquids such as petrol and diesel.
Thirdly we provide and install extinguishers for gas fires such as propane and butane.
Fourthly extinguishers for Electrical fires can be provided and installed.
Finally we can provide extinguishers for animal fats and vegetable fat fires such as the fats in chip pans and deep fat fryers.

We Teach You to Use Extinguishers
Firstly If you are not sure how to use the Extinguishers? We can teach you how to use them safely.
Secondly we specialize in knowing the requirements under the Boat Safety Scheme for portable fire extinguishers on Private and Hire-boats.
Finally under the BSS Boat Safety Scheme all fire extinguishers need to be in good working order and have been serviced at least annually by a qualified trained service engineer. Failure to comply with the recommendations could result in loss of BSS certification and or loss of insurance cover.

What type of Fire Extinguisher Servicing do we do?
There are four types of service that are carried out under the British standard BS5306 parts 3, 8 and 9.
- Installation: (Commissioning new Extinguishers in the correct place)
- Service: (Every Year) checking the extinguishers work and is free from damage or obstructions and tamper seals are in place.
- Extended Service: Involves testing the internal workings of the extinguisher and test firing it. Then re-filling where possible or replacing every 5 years
- Overhaul: Every 5 years for certain extinguishers (Every 10 years for CO2).

Where should I Position Fire Extinguishers?
Fire extinguishers should be positioned near to room exits, in corridors, on stairways, lobbies and landings. They should be in similar positions on each floor. If the fire extinguishers are on a boat they should be positioned near to the point where there is either a fuel supply, electricity or gas outlet within the boat itself.
Exceptions to the rule are if there are fuel tanks situated externally on a boat or in an external building, extinguishers should then be situated outside and near to the entrance of the hazard.
How far away should I place fire extinguishers?
The maximum permitted distance that a person should have to travel from the position or site of each class of fire is as follows…
- Class-A: 30 Metres (From flammable solids)
- Class-B: 10 Metres (From flammable liquids)
- Class-C: 30 Metres (From flammable gas)
- Class-D: On an individual basis (From flammable Metals)
- Class-F: 10 Metres (From Burning Oils and Fats)
Eberspacher Heater Testing
Firstly we carry out mobile testing on Eberspacher heaters. Secondly we can visit your Narrowboat or you can visit us. And last but not least we use EDiTH diagnostics software to run through your Eberspachers built in CPU to find the component that has failed.
EDiTH diagnostics will quickly run through a series of tests that will show you which component has failed. Finally we can then help you decide what course of action you can take. It may be that you just need to clean the component for carbon build up or it may need a new part, we can help you with either.
